This resource provides an abstract. Japan has a nationwide network to sense tremors triggered from waves that traveled long distances through the Earths crust. Data from the 2003 Tokachi-oki earthquake were used to study distant tremors found far from the earthquake epicenter. The tremors appeared to be deep in the Earth and triggered by the waves traveling across the planet's surface.
