Please read this important announcement regarding your ArcGIS software

Extend Your ArcGIS 9.3.1 License: One of the resources you were given last year at the completion of your summer 2010 Eyes in the Sky II workshop was a one year license of ArcView 9.3.1 and the Mapping Our World Using GIS curriculum. The license included with the curriculum expires 365 days from the day of the initial installation of the software. Because we are extending the Eyes in the Sky II program for another year, the project will provide interested teachers with another Our World media kit that will allow you to extend your ArcView 9.3.1. license for another year. We are offering three options for you to choose from. Each of the media kits listed below includes GIS curriculum and a 365-day ArcView 9.3.1 software license for 50 computers. Your choices are:

  • Thinking Spatially Using GIS: Early exposure to geography, spatial thinking, and geographic information systems (GIS) technology helps students gain an understanding of the world around them. With the first volume in the Our World GIS Education series, teachers and students use tools of geography – maps, geographic data, and GIS – to progress from a basic understanding of spatial concepts to recognizing patterns and analyzing map trends. Students reinforce and improve their basic map-reading skills and extend those skills as the book prompts them to analyze and think critically about the data.
  • Mapping Our World Using GIS: Mapping Our World Using GIS builds upon Mapping Our World GIS Lessons for Educators (ESRI Press, 2005) with updated materials and lessons that show educators to combine geography, data collection, mapping and critical analysis into the course curriculum in new ways. This second volume in the Our World GIS Education series encourages students to acquire and continue building broad-based problem-solving skills using geospatial technology.
  • Analyzing Our World Using GIS: Analyzing Our World Using GIS, the third volume in the Our World GIS Education series, helps educators use GIS technology and geographic data promote inquiry-based learning among students studying world geography, Earth science, and other disciplines. This book combines open-ended geospatial exploration opportunities with the structure of nationally standardized course content, classroom activities, teacher notes, student handouts, and assessments.
