Mehrube Mehrubeoglu
Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi
Dr. Mehrube "Ruby" Mehrubeoglu is a Professor and Program Coordinator at the Department of Engineering. at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She received her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and her M.S. degree in Bioengineering and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station. After working in the high-tech industry on projects involving software engineering and machine vision applications, she returned to academia. She joined Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2005. Since then, she has been working on transdisciplinary projects that incorporate computer vision tools and methods to analyze images acquired through different imaging modalities (visible-range color, thermal, hyperspectral, SWIR) to solve problems in science and engineering. She is an inventor on two patents, and author and co-author on over 120 journal and conference publications. She is an active member of the IEEE, ASEE, and Optica, and a life member of SPIE.
Besides her technical work, Mehrubeoglu is interested in effective learning strategies which engages students through hands-on learning and modern technologies, including sensors and systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and imaging modalities, as well whole system mapping and sustainability analysis in design projects. She has introduced many new courses as technical electives that span IoT devices and communications; AI in engineering and science applications; and sensors and systems. She is interested in introducing her students to new tools and techniques for STEM applications.
