Mitchell Scott

Mitchell Scott is a third year computational math Ph.D. student at Emory University working with Yuanzhe Xi. Mitchell's research focus is numerical linear algebra, high performance scientific computing, and nonlinear preconditioning for PDEs and data science problems. At Emory, he is part of the Directed Reading Program (DRP) Steering Committee. He has been a summer research fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Previously, he received a BS degree (2020) in biological engineering from Cornell University, College of Engineering, with minors in pure and applied math and an MS degree (2023) in applied and computational mathematics from Tufts University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. At Tufts, Mitchell worked with Misha Kilmer. He is the recipient of the Fuertes communication award. When he is not working, Mitchell enjoys reading contemporary fiction over an americano or long distance running.
