I used this lesson as one station in a series of five for my 7th grade classroom. Students rotated around the room to complete stations. In all about 100 students used the program, and all seemed to really enjoy it. The Water Availability lesson was completed on the smart board so that I could hear the discussion between students and help monitor progress. This lesson fit in perfectly with our weather/atmosphere unit and proved to be a great lesson for our 21st century learners. Students loved that they could use the smart board, that it looked like "google earth" and that at the end they could print off a graph they had created with their found data. It took each group about 20 minutes to complete this particular station. It was really neat to hear the students debate on what places had the highest elevation, runoff, and precipittion. It was cool to see them work together to complete the excel graph and to discuss what patterns they saw in their data. This is truly what science should be!
