Sediment and Depositional Environments lab part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
Students will investigate sedimentary materials and depositional environments utilizing microscopes, hand samples, and internet data.

Metamorphic Rocks Lab part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
Students describe rock characteristics and determine if a rock sample is metamorphic. If it is, they determine the parent rock. If not, they describe what it would change into as a metamorphic rock. The whole class puts the group of 20 samples together as part of a large puzzle.

Introduction to Physical Geology part of Geoscience in Two-year Colleges:Courses
This course is an introduction to the principles governing the composition and structure of the Earth, and the study of land forms and geological processes on the surface and within the Earth. Topics include: rock forming minerals, rocks, glaciers, earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics and mountains. Field trips and lab activities will emphasize the geologic history and features of Connecticut.
