Darwin and the Galapagos Islands part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
In this assignment the students read the Chapter 17 "Galapagos Archipelago" from The Voyage of the Beagle by Charles Darwin, and they examine a website about the Galapagos Islands. The students answer two questions that link Darwin's observation on the Galapagos with his theory of evolution described in the Origin of Species.
Evolution of Whales part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
The students read two articles on the evolution of whales and search the web. The students' writing assignment requires them to outline the evolution of whales using major fossil finds. Students start with Pakicetidae and end with the appearance of Mysticeti and Odontoceti lines.

An overview of the 4.5 billion-year history of our planet as revealed by analysis and interpretation of the geologic and paleontologic record preserved in rocks of the earth's crust.
History of Life part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Courses
This Honor's Geology Class provides an overview of the origin and evolution life. The course uses geological and paleontological methods to help the student appreciate scientific approaches to testing and verifying hypotheses. Course material emphasizes vertebrate evolution.
