Figure 4. Preliminary feldspar ages, measured using the isothermal thermoluminescence signal, appear in agreement with radiocarbon control ages. Radiocarbon control ages are presented on the left side of the column from Dawson et al. (2003) with stratigraphic units numbered and sample locations denoted with an x, while preliminary feldspar isothermal themoluminescence (ITL) age estimates presented on the right with sample locations represented by a circle. By comparing OSL age results with the previously established 14C record we can test how well our dating procedure is working and optimize it accordingly, however, further research is needed for more accurate and precise age estimates. (Modified from Dawson et al., 2003).
