Fig. 4. Conceptualized geometry of streams in catchments with different land use/land cover based on results from headwater streams in the Illinois River watershed. Streams in forested catchments tend to have a U-shape. In agricultural and urban catchments, stream geometry is trapezoidal to rectangular as a result of higher erosion and scour than in forested catchments.
