This photograph shows a cold-based glacier in the Taylor Valley, Antarctica. The typical characteristics of cold-based glaciers are the clean ice surface, a cliff at the ice margin and an apron of ice and refrozen water at the foot of the cliff. Small moraines are visible on the true left marin of the glacier.
