State Your Case! Summer 2009 Workshop:
Practical Strategies for Helping Students Learn to Develop and Support a Point of View
Tuesday, August 18 - Wednesday, August 19, 2009, 9.00 am - 4.00 pm, Macalester College
This two-day workshop provides resources and practical examples of assignments, activities, and assessment approaches that help students learn to make a convincing case for a policy, position, or point of view. The first day focuses on instructional resources and strategies, and the second focuses on simple approaches to classroom assessment to help instructors track improvements in students' proficiencies. Both days include opportunities for participants to share draft materials for their courses with one another and with the workshop facilitators.
Workshop participants receive a stipend of $200 and travel expenses between Northfield and St. Paul. Morning refreshments and lunch are provided both days.
