Susan McMaster

Frederick Community College

Hello! My name is Susan McMaster and I am an Assistant Professor of Economics and Business at Frederick Community College (www.frederick.edu ).

I have been with FCC since 2014 full-time and have been working in the field and teaching for over 20 years. I earned my Masters and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois and my Bachelor of Science in Economics from Arizona State University. Upon completion of my Ph.D. I moved to the Washington DC area to work for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), working in both the Industry Analysis division and Policy and Planning. I worked on various projects involving number portability, ISDN, and the implementation of the Communications Act of 1996. Following my time at the FCC, I joined MCI and continued working on various issues involving the deregulation of the local telecommunications system. I also consulted for a number of years before moving to the University of Phoenix, Northern Virginia Campus, where I served as the Campus Chair for the School of Business and taught a number of economics, statistics and research, and business math courses.

I have lived for the past 14 years in Frederick County, along with my husband and 2 sons. My spare time is spent watching my boys’ baseball games and going to band concerts, along with finding time for a good book.
