My research focuses on the magmatic recycling in global subduction zones.
The processing of solid crust and mantle materials in global subduction zones plays a key role in creating and maintaining the habitable Earth. In order to quantify magmatic fluxes across subduction zones and assess their impact on the evolution of solid and surface Earth, I pursue integrative geochemical and geological studies in volcanic arcs worldwide.
Together with many national and international colleagues, I explore the following questions:
(1) What is the composition of primary arc magmas?
(2) How strong is the connectivity between material input at the trenches from incoming slab and eroded forearc, and the arc output?
(3) Is the highly explosive silicic arc volcanism a climate player?

This is a lecture segment that can be used or adapted for use in an undergraduate geoscience class. The goal of the lecture is to familiarize students with the concept of volcanic change through time at time scale commensurate to plate tectonic evolution.
