Nakul Karle

Howard University

Dr. Nakul Karle is an atmospheric scientist at Howard University’s NOAA Cooperative Sciences Center in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology (NCAS-M II), with research interests spanning air quality, atmospheric boundary-layer processes, and remote sensing. His research uses environmental observations to investigate how atmospheric processes influence air pollution and its variability. At Howard, Dr. Karle has taught Global Climate Change and Introduction to Environmental Sciences. He connects classroom learning with his research expertise by engaging students in environmental questions using real observational datasets. His current teaching interests include integrating MATLAB, EPA air-quality measurements, satellite imagery, and guided AI assistance into accessible activities for students with little or no programming experience. Through these activities, he aims to develop students’ skills in data analysis, visualization, critical thinking, and scientific communication while preparing them to pursue independent projects investigating air quality across pollutants, locations, and time periods.
