Group Oral Presentation part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
Groups are assigned and each group chooses a topic on which to report. Presentations are at least 15-minutes; all group members must speak and a visual aid is required. This project allows students to teach everyone about an interesting area of the world where concepts discussed in class have been or are actively occurring.
Article Review part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Activities
During the semester, students must complete two article reviews. They are required to summarize and critically evaluate a recent article pertaining to a topic in Earth Science. Articles may be chosen by the student with approval from me OR selected from numerous articles provided in class.
Earth Science part of Cutting Edge:Introductory Courses:Courses
A survey course that introduces fundamentals of geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy. The companion Earth Science laboratory (GEOL 8L) is recommended for students needing a lab to transfer to a 4-year college/university. Field trips are required.
