What are, to you, the key issues in creating learning resources that support your teaching style and your student's learning styles?

At the University, I deal with pre-service and in-service teachers. The challenge for me is creating materials that busy folks can find accessible. Thus, a range of issues comes into play -- from readability to portability, from accessiblity to cost. University's need to rethink how learning resources are made avaiable to what might be considered non-traditional students.

What is your vision for the "textbook" of the future and what impediments do you see to realizing that vision?

Textbooks are now fixed entities; in the future, they need to be dynamic, works-in-progress. Probably the biggest issue there is the business model -- something that we as academics have little insight into and little input on, unfortunately.

Describe briefly any research you have undertaken on teaching or learning.

Along with my colleagues at GoKnow Learning, Inc., we are developing learning resources for K-12 that support mobile learning devices.

Have you created publicly accessible learning resources?

Please go to my company's website: http://www.gomobilesolutions.com.

How would you like to contribute to the workshop?

I hope that our invited address will spark lively discussions around the nature of learning resources for the mobile learners of today and tomorrow.

What would you like to take away from the workshop?

Whiel I have thought about "textbook" issues for quite some time, I look forward to having my ideas refreshened!
