Geoscience Assistant and Media Producer
Geoscience assistant at SERC from June 2004-2008. My position at SERC has evolved along with the changing needs of the office. At first, I spent a lot of time cataloging resources into digital libraries for Starting Point, Cutting Edge, and other projects. I do some content management and development and help contributors format their pages as needed. I've organized the logistics for some workshops and developed the DataSheet collection. I also have done some graphic design and am increasingly spending more time on short video production for the site, including a video on how to make a soil monolith and videos for the Affective Domain and Departments workshops. Alongside my SERC work, I do free lance video production and editing, mostly for documentaries, and I maintain a blog.
Before SERC, I worked with the United Nations Global Programme for the Integration of Public Administration and the Science of Disasters (UNGP-IPASD) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) in the Philippines and China, as a Soil Scientist in the Shasta Trinity National Forest in Northern California, and as a Media Associate at Carleton College.
