Stipend Application

Application deadline for the stipend is Friday, September 27, 2019

Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, the SAGE 2YC program is able to partially support faculty from two-year colleges to attend and participate in the Education Event workshop, Inclusive and Effective College Science Classrooms: Engaging Students, Designing Lessons, and Integrating Diversity into Curriculum, that will be held in association with the Fall AGU meeting. You may request funds for your anticipated travel costs, the meeting and workshop registration fees, and/or abstract submission fee, and reasonable lodging expenses up to a maximum of $1000.

Registration and participation in the workshop Inclusive and Effective College Science Classrooms: Engaging Students, Designing Lessons, and Integrating Diversity into Curriculum is required. As a result, you must be in San Francisco on Sunday, December 8 by 8am. Because our funds are limited, we encourage you to first pursue possible sources of funding on your campus, such as your department chair, dean, center for teaching and learning, or other faculty development program. To be supported by this funding, you must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or employed by a U.S. institution. This funding is intended to limit the amount you may have to pay out of your own pocket to attend AGU. Please limit your request to expenses not reimbursed by other funds available to support your participation.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 27, 2019. Support from SAGE 2YC will be in the form of a stipend and will be issued after the meeting. Awardees will be contacted with complete instructions within one week after the application deadline. If you have questions regarding the stipend awards, please contact Norlene Emerson via email: emersonn@uwplatt.edu

Awards will be limited to the cost of reasonable airfare, registration cost for the workshop and meeting, housing, and/or other travel expenses via the lowest cost-option.

Adjunct faculty are particularly encouraged to apply!
