I am really impressed by your analysis! It is both bold and hard.
It is really interesting to see your data. It is very different from Clark's. You should know the variability that you saw is more typical. Your participation rates are amazingly consistent with your institution as a whole. It is much more typical to see more variability.
Sometimes we have had problems with adjunct faculty getting access to this kind of data. Did you have any problems?

Looking at specific science disciplines success rates will really help each of your teaching teams with focused strategies. That was great to see.

Your classes likely attract either majors or non-science majors. I wonder if you might see differences in enrollment depending on the student's intent for taking the class. For example, international students might focus on science majors courses. There may be a few things beyond your control for some of your enrollment trends.

Since you have community members taking your classes (25%) you might find age data to be interesting too.

I think using undergraduate research in the classes will be a wonderful addition to motivate students. Are you considering any field work in these classes moving forward?

I also think that clubs are great to add a sense of belonging but I think maintaining clubs at a community college (due to short duration of students' stay at the college) can be challenging unless you have students mentor new students to keep the club alive.

Interesting data and analysis! I wondered about the fall data difference and although this is unlikely, wondered if that might be a transition to college? KNow that's unlikely just a thought. Great that you participate in physics discussions on ShutDownSTEM day and got some good ideas from that. The workshops look well alighted with what you learned from the course outcomes data.

Thanks for explaining your data so clearly and carefully! You do have some high success rates, especially in biology, so nice work!

Your lower success rates in geology stood out to me (as I teach geology), and the lower numbers of Black/African American students, as this is a similar trend to ours. Do you have any initial ideas as to why geology classes are not appealing to certain groups of people?
