Comment: I like the idea of a promotional video! Very creative and great for students to collaborate with a different department.
Question: Re: Student success vs. time graph: Why do you think there was there an overall increase F2018/S2019?

I love how you have looked at the DL vs. f2F analysis. That is great. You have come up with some hypotheses of why your demographics are different from the institution as a whole. Can you come up with ways of testing your ideas? The disparity with African Americans and others is pretty dramatic, even for a relatively few students. It may not be statistically significant at a 95% confidence level, but it seems like something to keep an eye on.
Are you ok with the DL vs. F2F success rate differential?
It seems like you have a great case for class size having an impact on success.
I would be careful attributing "barrier" to math competence. It MIGHT be math placement? or prerequisites? but I don't think any data you have is measuring student facility in math.

Angela this increase was most likely due to smaller class size

The data on the increase in DL courses re enrollment and the data on increased student success for students who are taking both the lecture and lab course together is interesting. I'd like to learn more about the implications of that.

Video seems like a great idea!

Your data is very comprehensive. You did an excellent job of analyzing your programs, and identifying your strengths and weaknesses.

You provided a great detailed look at your data, I think it was a great choice to look at the success rates of students enrolled in lab sections simultaneously. There are probably some really interesting reasons for that to dig in to, and since you have separate enrollment (which is relatively unique) you are in the special position of being able to look at that.

One avenue you might consider is looking into why students in labs perform better than those in just the lecture. What is it about their experience that is translating to better learning in the lecture? That might lend some insight into stratgies that could be implemented in the lectures to improve overall success.

I thought your presentation flowed very well. Your slides were clear, and presented your data in an easily understood manner. You were able to collect an amazing amount of data - I had not even considered looking at our data through the financial aid lens. It is interesting that most of your students are planning to transfer - are you able to follow them through their transition to the 4-yr school and their success there? That might be interesting.

I was also curious about the motivation or reasoning behind the dramatic procedural (testing) differences between F2F and DL. Are there ways to make the assessment more consistent? This would illuminate whether the performance difference is really a result of better learning or just an artifact of assessment.

Eric - Since all classes will be offered online this fall I would expect the DL success rate might normalize toward the F2F level. This is certainly something we can test.

eric I agree we should be careful about attributing "barrier" to math competence. We only state this because most students entering CNM are placed in remedial math. very few go directly into the core competence math classes. we should look deeper at this if we truly want to understand this
