Phyllis Pouyat Thibodeau

Phyllis Pouyat Thibodeau is founder/ CEO of Chesapeake Career Consulting, LLC located in DC Metro and Chesapeake Bay Watershed Region, dedicated to supporting Next Generation Education, Career and Leadership Transitions fora Sustainable Future.  She brings over 25 years of experience in both corporate and higher education management, combining expertise in organizational systems, adult professional education, leadership and international program development.  Phyllis is a certified Executive Career Coach, currently supporting students at World Learning/ SIT Graduate Institute as they prepare to be Global Leaders, working on various projects in over 60 countries.

 

Previously, Phyllis has served as Executive Career Consultant and Associate Director for MBA Career & Professional Development (2007-2013) supporting over 1000 working professional students per year at Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. As Director of Career and Cooperative Education at UMUC (2004-2007), she served as adjunct faculty teaching career management and experiential learning courses, while overseeing integrated workplace project partnerships for professionals in government, commercial and non-profit organizations both nationally and internationally. During many years at Cornell University (1987-2000), Phyllis worked with partners to develop an experiential education enterprise for Architects, Artists and City Planning students in Rome, Italy.  During these years she also worked on various cross-functional organizational development and employee training projects and served as Business Process/Finance Systems Analyst for University-wide change management. 

Phyllis is actively involved in a variety of community, education and business networks invested in conservation education and sustainable economic development nationally and internationally. "Thinking Globally, Acting Locally", she volunteers as a Master Gardener with University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture Cooperative Extension, where she joins community partners on Tilghman Island to develop strategies that combine economic, environmental and education benefits.   She specializes in edible landscapes and is most recently working on a children’s garden curriculum at Phillips Wharf Environmental Center as part of an overall Eco-Tourism & Education Initiative.

 

Phyllis completed her B.S. in Human Resources Development at SUNY and studied Creative Leadership at Cornell University.  Combining studies in varied colleges within University of Maryland System, she earned a Master of Distance Education and certifications in Teaching, Technology and Environmental Education. Phyllis is a certified Job & Career Transition Coach with www.careernetwork.org, and holds a Certified Master Coach designation with International Coach Federation.
