Get Cirrus about the Weather! Teaching Students about Extreme Weather and Preparedness

Mary Scarzello Fairbanks, a meteorologist and education-outreach specialist for NOAA's National Weather Service, discusses extreme weather and how to be prepared for it. Extreme weather i.e. flooding, heat, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, etc., can be exciting and scary. Each year, people are killed or seriously injured by these events, despite advance warning. NOAA's National Weather Service wants everyone to be prepared before extreme weather strikes. These actions can save lives at home, at school, and in your community. This presentation shares online data and education resources that can be used in classroom settings to educate students about weather science and safety. These include weather forecasts, safety campaign pages, interactive modules, lessons, and games!
