About NESTA


The National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA) is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1983. Our mission is to facilitate and advance excellence in K-12 Earth and Space Science education while serving a diverse population of learners in formal and informal settings. We envision that all K-12 students will receive a quality Earth and Space Science Education.

NESTA has an annual membership of approximately 1,000 teachers and produces a quarterly peer-reviewed journal, The Earth Scientist (TES), and a monthly electronic newsletter (E-News). Our website highlights professional development opportunities and stellar teaching resources. NESTA leaders present at conferences and offer professional development to K-12 teachers on a range of Earth, space, and environmental science topics. NESTA collaborates with other professional education associations, scientific societies, and federal agencies to promote and advocate for Earth System Science education.
