Onboarding for EvaluateUR-Internship Users
Welcome to E-Internship!
Planning to use your E-Internship data for research?
Read our Security and IRB (Institutional Review Board) information and contact your institution's IRB prior to collecting data for research.
Welcome to the E-Internship onboarding page! Whether you're a student participating in an E-Internship or an internship coordinator supporting student success, this page will guide you through the process. Students should plan to take some time before their internship begins to acquaint themselves with the platform's features and set up their dashboard by completing the onboarding steps below. Coordinators can use this information to understand the student experience and support their students effectively.
Onboarding Steps
Step 1: Create an Account
The first step as the Internship Coordinator is to create a SERC account that will be used throughout the process using the same email address provided within the request form. Students will be added from the dashboard by the Internship Coordinator and should set up their password-protected account with the same email address they received their email introduction from.
Step 2: Ensuring you Receive E-Internship Emails
E-Internship uses automated emails to guide students through the program. To ensure these emails reach their inbox, please follow these steps:
- Whitelist E-Internship Emails: Contact your IT department and request they "whitelist" emails from SERC (on behalf of EvaluateUR Methods). This tells their system to trust emails from E-Internship. You can share this information with them:
- SERC (https://serc.carleton.edu) is an office of Carleton College that runs the EvaluateUR-Internship program. The program relies on sending emails to participants.
- To prevent emails being marked as spam, please whitelist the SERC email server. All emails are sent via Sendgrid's service through a dedicated IP address (50.31.59.122) which is only used for SERC emails.
- SERC follows email best practices and has no history of spam complaints. Whitelisting this IP address will ensure emails reach users' inboxes.
- Use Your Campus Email: If possible, ask your students to use their campus-provided email address for E-Internship communication. This makes whitelisting more effective.
- Individual Whitelisting: If campus-wide whitelisting isn't possible, have your students whitelist SERC within their email account settings. Look for options like "safe senders" or "trusted senders." Add @serc.carleton.edu to this list.
By taking these steps, you'll ensure you and your students receive all important E-Internship notifications and updates.
Step 3: Set Up Your Dashboard
As the Internship Coordinator/Admin, you have a few options for setting up your program. Follow the step-by-step guide to set up your dashboard.
Step 4: Read the Guide to Score Reports
If you're interested in learning more about how to gather data from the EvaluateUR method program, read the Guide to Data and Student Score Reports.
