Background Information

I am in my 30th year of TYC teaching, having taught all levels of community college physics, more than a dozen electronics, microprocessor, and semiconductor courses, computer art, student success, and capstone courses. I've been division chair (going to do it again starting this summer), occupational dean, staff development coordinator and chair of various campus and district instructional technology groups. Project-based physics, lower-level computational physics, and teaching college physics on-line are my current research interests.

Related Pedagogical Projects

I have been involved with more than a dozen projects over the last 20 years (primarily with NSF and AZ State Dept. of Ed funding) to work with K-12 in-services teachers to: expand their physics content knowledge (mostly absent K-8), increase their use of scientific inquiry, and integrate scientific discourse into their classrooms. I am a very active member of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), locally, regionally and nationally and the primary mission of AAPT is to improve the pedagogical practice of physics teachers and increase student learning.
