Kevin Charles Antony Burke's (Ph.D.) Bibliography of Papers on African Geology (Complied by John Weber, GVSU, 04/30/17)

John Weber, Grand Valley State University

Over his long and productive career, Kevin Burke has enjoyed studying the geology and tectonics of Africa. He has produced over 50 first-author papers and close to 20 co-authored papers, on a wide variety of topics related to African geology. His work began as largely observational and descriptive studies in the late 1950s, when Kevin occupied academic positions at formerly British colonial universities in Ghana and Nigeria. His studies quickly expanded into far-reaching papers on the record of plate and plume tectonics in Africa, and on the critical role that an understanding of the African continent and its geology plays in understanding how the Earth behaves. Here, I compile and present a chronological bibliography of Kevin's work, which provide key primary sources of knowledge and ideas for any geoscientist wanting to learn more about Africa.
