What are, to you, the key issues in creating learning resources that support your teaching style and your student's learning styles?

Creating environments where students are able to collaborate on non-trivial tasks and non-routine problems in math and science.

What is your vision for the "textbook" of the future and what impediments do you see to realizing that vision?

I would like to see robust environments that promote divergent thinking in students. A major impediment is the tendency for online learning environments to focus leaning into narrow categories in order to facilitate assessment and "automation." How do you preserve the human interactions as you subsitute less personal environments for face-to-face environments?

Describe briefly any research you have undertaken on teaching or learning.

While my company has not undertaken academic research in this area, we do have a lot of practical experience designing and assessing learning environments.

Have you created publicly accessible learning resources?

http://www.keypress.com/dm/online
This is the portal site to several online textbooks for high school mathematics. This portal allows free previews of the resources.
http://www.keypress.com/pdc/gsponline
This moderated course is designed to help geometry teachers understand how to use one of our technology products. No multiple choice questions--all discussion and projects.

How would you like to contribute to the workshop?

I would be happy to show some of our environments and talk about the issues we struggle with. I am anxious to hear where others think the work is going.

What would you like to take away from the workshop?

I want to be able to share the information with my colleagues at Key Curriculum Press and Key College Publishing.
