Small group discussion at PKAL 4 Workshop

Vision: to engage students in clasroom topics relevant to their everyday lives, in order to inspire lifelong learning

Goal: restructure class activities to include topical issues and increase scientific literacy to stimulate critical evaluation of media statements

Strategies:
- find out what your students are interested in and incorporate relevant topics
- research/network with other faculty to ID interesting topics
- ask students to brainstorm about how topics are relevant to various disciplines
