Instrumentation Sharing

The ACM FaCE program aims to promote collaboration among faculty at the member institutions. In the sciences, this collaboration may be fostered by the availability of specialized instrumentation available at one institution that may facilitate the research of a faculty member at another institution. A visit to utilize some type of specialized equipment could lead to further advancement of both participants' scholarly efforts.

To encourage this type of activity, we are asking each institution's science departments to list equipment in this database that meets the following criteria:
  • The instrument should be one not typically found in every department. For example, nearly all chemistry departments will have a UV/visible spectrophotometer. However, if you have an instrument with particularly high resolution or extended range, it might be worth listing.
  • You must be willing to let another ACM faculty member use the instrument under some conditions. The terms (timing, supervision, cost for supplies) may be negotiated between the participating individuals.
  • This database will be viewable by those outside the consortium. While it is designed to facilitate collaboration within the ACM, it may lead to inquiries from other sources as well. The home institution for the instrumentation may decide whether or not to respond to these requests.
Submissions will be approved by an ACM moderator prior to actually appearing in the database, so expect a delay before your item shows up in the database. For questions about the function of the database itself, contact Sean Fox at
