This material was originally created for Starting Point:Introductory Geology
and is replicated here as part of the SERC Pedagogic Service.

created by Mark Francek, Central Michigan University

The following are potential questions that could be used in a gallery walk activity about the ocean. The questions are organized according to the cognitive level at which students are engaged, using Bloom's Taxonomy.

Knowledge

Tell how the ocean's energy (column one) and water exchange (column two) impact the atmosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere?

Comprehension

Application

Discuss the pattern for salinity, temperature, density, primary production, turbidity, and currents for the following environments. a) W Peru b) Long Island Estuary, c) open ocean off Bermuda, d) open ocean off the Aleutians.

Analysis

Synthesis

Given the following moon-earth-sun positions, predict the extent of gravitational attraction and tidal range.
