Simultaneous Editing Detection

published Jun 2, 2010 3:23pm
The CMS will now detect when you attempt to edit a page that has been recently (in the last 15 minutes) edited by another user. If you attempt edit a page that someone else has been editing you'll get an obvious warning message indicating who has been editing the page and how long ago. This should go a long way toward avoiding problems where people editing the same page save over the top of each other's work. Note that this change doesn't actually prevent the editing conflicts. You can still click past the warning and edit in ways that could cause a problem. But hopefully after seeing the warning you'll be in a better position to coordinate edits with the other editors.
