Geoscience Assistant and Media Producer
Science Education Resource Center, Carleton College
I've been working as geoscience assistant at SERC since June 2004. My position at SERC has evolved along with the changing needs of the office. At first, I spent a lot of time cataloging resources into digital libraries for Starting Point, Cutting Edge, and other projects. I do some content management and development and help contributors format their pages as needed. I've organized the logistics for some workshops and developed the DataSheet collection. I also have done some graphic design and am increasingly spending more time on short video production for the site, including a video on how to make a soil monolith and videos for the Affective Domain and Departments workshops. Alongside my SERC work, I do free lance video production and editing, mostly for documentaries, and I maintain a blog.
Before SERC, I worked with the United Nations Global Programme for the Integration of Public Administration and the Science of Disasters (UNGP-IPASD) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) in the Philippines and China, as a Soil Scientist in the Shasta Trinity National Forest in Northern California, and as a Media Associate at Carleton College.
