Stipend Application

Application deadline Wed, July 26, 2017

Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, the SAGE 2YC program is able to partially support faculty from two-year colleges to attend and participate in the short course #512 - Helping Students Thrive in Geoscience at Two-Year Colleges: Selected Strategies and the 2017 GSA annual meeting including travel, registration, and lodging. You may request funds for your anticipated travel costs, the meeting registration fee, and reasonable lodging expenses up to a maximum of $1000.

Registration and participation in the short course #512 - Helping Students Thrive in Geoscience at Two-Year Colleges: Selected Strategies is required. As a result, you must be in Seattle on Saturday, October 21 at 8am. Because our funds are limited, we encourage you to first pursue possible sources of funding on your campus, such as your department chair, dean, center for teaching and learning, or other faculty development program. To be supported by this funding, you must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or employed by a U.S. institution. This funding is intended to limit the amount you may have to pay out of your own pocket to attend GSA. Please limit your request for expenses not reimbursed by other funds available to support your participation.

Applications must be submitted by July 26. Awardees will receive a stipend for attendance and participation in the short course. Awards will be issued after the meeting. You must provide tax identification information to the University of Wisconsin-Richland before the award can be issued. Awardees will be contacted with complete instructions. If you have questions regarding the stipend awards, please contact Norlene Emerson via email: Norlene.emerson@uwc.edu

Awards will be limited to the cost of reasonable airfare, actual registration cost for the short course and meeting (no field trips), housing, and/or other travel expenses via the lowest cost-option.

Adjunct faculty are particularly encouraged to apply!

We will send the stipend award check to your home (not work) address, matching the address used for federal income tax information.
