Improving Instruction and Supporting Transfer Opportunities in the Geosciences in the San Francisco Bay Area

Deadline to register: None

October 22, 2016
De Anza College

At this workshop we will be sharing ideas with one another on active learning approaches in our classes, student retention, better supporting transfer majors in the geosciences, and increasing diversity in our transfer population. This forum will also allow us to look at practices presented in SAGE-2YC National Workshops and fold them into our discussion. We will also use our time to look at approaches to online instruction and web-mediated classes. Finally we will be meeting with department representatives from several of the major transfer 4-year universities in our area to look at ways to more smoothly support transfers from our programs into their majors.

More importantly this workshop will provide a rare opportunity to get together and discuss ways that we might be able to support each other, including ways to communicate special classes like field courses, where our students could benefit from crossover enrollment.
