The Nature of Science, Always Part of the Science Story
M.P. Clough 2004 The Science Teacher v. 71, p. 28-31

This article suggests several strategies for accurately portraying the nature of science (NOS) in the classroom. Though the target audience for The Science Teacher is primarily high school teachers, there is valuable information in this article both for undergraduate instructors and faculty who teach pre-service teachers. Clough and Olson suggest ways to introduce NOS in the classroom, use language appropriately to reflect NOS, be critical of laboratories and textbooks, and integrate NOS into assessment. They also distinguish NOS from the process of science, and provide suggestions for getting ideas about how science works across.
