Annenberg Media, YouTube

This is the second segment (of 4) of a YouTube version of the Microbial Evolution episode of Annenberg Media's Unseen Life on Earth series. This version is split into four 7-minute segments. Part I provides an introduction to the history of life on Earth. Part II delves into the study of modern microbial extremophiles as a means for understanding the origins of life. Part III introduces DNA, genomes, and molecular phylogenetics, particularly the use of ribosomal DNA. Part IV continues the discussion of molecular phylogenetics and reconstruction of the tree of life. This video is intended for a high school or undergraduate audience.
