This data tip from Bridge, the Ocean Sciences Education Teacher Resource Center archive, provides links to several educational sites, and refers teachers to the Classroom BATS (Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study) site where they can use the OceanExplorer Excel workbook along with oceanography lesson plans in data activities to examine how changes in temperature and pressure affect the speed of sound in the ocean as well as other problems using real ocean data. BATS scientists sail every month to study the role of the ocean and its creatures in global environmental change.
