Kansas Geological Survey, University of Kansas

This site is made up of both a tutorial and and interactive excercise. The tutorial covers the basics of the geological interpretation of gamma-ray, photoelectric index, neutron-density porosity log overlays as a pattern recognition of the common sedimentary lithologies. The tutorial text is associated with the "Oz machine", a Java applet that generates logs for synthetic sedimentary successions and challenges users to assign lithologies, using a graphic palette.
