Ground Water and Surface Water, A Single Resource
http://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/circ1139/

Thomas Winter, United States Geological Survey

This USGS report presents an overview of the interactions between ground water and surface water in a variety of terrains. It serves as a general educational document with the intention of helping agencies understand the basic science involved in the management and protection of aquifers and watersheds. The report describes the natural processes of ground water and surface water interactions and the effects of human activities on these processes, including impacts of agriculture, industry, and physical and chemical modifications to the atmosphere and watersheds. The report contains text, maps, illustrations and case studies, and would make a useful resource for an introductory environmental science course. A pdf file of the report may be freely downloaded.
