HR Wallingford Ltd, HABES

This website reviews the Harmful Algal Blooms Expert System (HABES), which consists of models based on fuzzy logic modelling techniques for several selected harmful algal species in European marine waters. The stated objectives of the HABES project are to improve and extend understanding of the interaction between physical and ecological factors determining the initiation and fate of harmful algal blooms and to provide an expert system and a knowledge base, publicly accessible through internet, based upon existing and newly-acquired knowledge on harmful algal blooms. Links are provided to maps and information regarding pilot study sites, an online library of reports and papers related to the HABES project, and free downloads of both the fuzzy logic modelling software developed within the HABES project and the fuzzy logic models that have been developed for all 5 selected harmful algal species.
