Earth Sciences Education: an Extra Dimension to Science Education in Schools
N. Orion, D.B. Thompson, and C. King 1996 Cadernos IG/UNICAMP (In English and Portuguese) v6(1), p122-133

This article outlines topics addressed at the first International Geoscience Education Conference in the United Kingdom in April 1993. It advocates the advance of Earth science education in primary and secondary schools and admonishes science educators who have not implemented Earth science education in their curricula. It states that geoscience education is patchy at best and non-existent at worst and that if students do not learn Earth science education, they, as future citizens, will be unable to make sound decisions relating to local, regional, and global environmental issues.
