This site is home to the Red Layer Microbial Observatory (RLMO) Database Project from the National Science Foundation, Western Oregon University, and Yellowstone National Park. Research focuses include isolating and describing DNA segments from Yellowstone red layer communities, performing extensive surveys throughout Yellowstone for red layer communities, and assessing RLMO population diversity at four established Yellowstone RLMO. The web page contains a database of RLMO Yellowstone study sites. Site data and information can be accessed through site links or a query database. Each study site includes links to site introduction, site chemistry, clones, collection teams, microscopy images, site images, DGGE images, and pigments.
