This site, hosted by the American Geophysical Union (AGU), is a call to reform the methods used in the teaching of Earth Sciences. In order to reach the stated goal of creating a scientifically literate population, the Earth and space sciences can play a central role in responding to these new expectations through the Earth systems approach. The Earth and space sciences address the interrelationships between humanity and the Earth system. An understanding of these relationships is a critical aspect of scientific literacy. In teaching about the Earth system, scientists from all subdisciplines in the Earth and space sciences have something to offer.
