This scientific paper describes the microbial diversity found in water and sediment samples taken from acidic, geothermal pools on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. Sampling sites included low-, moderate-, and high-temperature environments. The authors used phase-contrast microscopy and PCR cloning, sequencing, and analysis of 16S rDNA to identify the microbial community present at each site.
