These letters all went in email on Jan. 5, but we now find several people
did not receive them. They didn't bounce back to our site, so we don't know
what the reason is for the recipients not getting them. We apologize for
the "group" nature of this re-sent message.

We are pleased to accept your application to participate in the NAGT On the
Cutting Edge Workshop: "Teaching Geoscience with Visualizations: Using
Images, Animations, and Models Effectively" which will be held February
26-28 at Carleton College. A very large number of applications were
received for this workshop leading to a very competitive selection process.
We anticipate a very exciting program and productive working time.

As you know, workshop participants are expected to
?	contribute an essay describing their work for the workshop website
?	contribute to resource collections prior to and following the workshop
?	prepare in advance for workshop discussions via readings, writings,
discussion or other activities developed by workshop leaders
?	participate fully in the entire workshop
?	be leaders in follow-on activities leading to broad implementation
In the next few weeks, you will receive further information about the essay
and resource collections via the workshop discussion list
(viz at serc.carleton.edu). The workshop website
(serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/visualize04) will serve as our
organizational hub with both information and mechanisms for submitting
registration, essays and resources.

The National Science Foundation provides funding for your room and board at
the workshop. You or your institution are responsible for transportation
costs and any incidental costs. If this causes a hardship, we do have a
small fund to help offset travel costs in cases of special need. To apply
please fill out the Travel Stipend Request Form
(serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/travelstipend.html) before January 9.

If for some reason your plans have changed and you no longer wish to attend
the workshop, we would appreciate knowing that as soon as possible as there
are a large number of potential participants on the workshop waiting list.
We ask that you make a firm commitment to participation in the workshop by
completing the registration form no later than January
31(serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/visualize04/register.html?this form will
be available in the next week or so). If you withdraw from the workshop
after this date, you will be responsible for all costs incurred on your
behalf.

Thank you for your interest in the workshop. We look forward to seeing you
in February.

Sincerely,

Cathy Manduca, Michelle Hall-Wallace, Barbara Tversky, Jim Slotta, and Dave
Mogk
Workshop Planning Team
