Greetings workshop participants-
Many thanks to those who have submitted essays.  I just read the ones that 
came in before this morning and they are great--informative, interesting, 
fun, and very varied.  I am very excited about our discussions!  (you have 
moved me from workshop preparation as a bunch of things that must be done 
to workshop preparation as an exciting intellectual activity :)).

For those of you who (like me) read best from pieces of paper rather than 
the computer screen, we will make a single downloadable printable file with 
all of the essays that will be available on the Participants page.  That 
will be available at the end of today.  We will do it again on Wednesday to 
include late arriving submissions.

For those of you who (like me) haven't written your essay yet--please do 
submit them. They are very valuable both for introducing us to one another 
and as a resource for the broader community that uses our website.  Read a 
couple and you'll be inspired :) (I appreciate it is time not inspiration 
that is in short supply--get them in when you can).

Lastly, if you would like to talk with the other workshop participants- 
about the essays, about the workshop, or about visualization- you can use 
this list-server (viz at serc.carleton.edu).  I only caution that you remember 
that we are all overwhelmed with email--so please don't use it for personal 
conversations with a single participant.
