I agree with Jane.. My students would know all most of those rocks in 
terms of their general mineralogy and general tectonic setting.  Like 
Jane's students, mine would also know about depth of source for 
tholeiites vs alkali basalts and silica saturation and such. They 
would have a hard time with Phonolite and spilite but would know how 
to find out!
