Hi Folks,
I just wanted to alert you to the on-line resource collections that
we've developed in anticipation of the Teaching Oceanography workshop.
Jen Millner has been working hard to discover and catalog a wide variety
of resources to support our work. She's made a good start, but we need
your help to round out the collections.
Check out:
1. Using Data to Teach the Ocean System. We have 72 ocean-related
datasets and tools in the collection. You can narrow your search of
these datasets according to general topic, level of sophistication, and
type of data or tool. Please let us know what other datasets or tools
are "out there" that you commonly use.

2. Web-based Resources for Teaching for Teaching the Ocean System
has some 250 resources in the collection. As above, you can search by
general topic, ocean environment, and type of resource. Please let us
know what other resources should be added to this collection.

3. For any new submissions, you can just go to the Suggest a
Resource page and provide us with the URL (for a dataset,
visualization, or other general web-based resource), and give us a
brief description of why the site is interesting or important.

4. In the near future we will have a "Submit an Activity" form for
any instructional activities you have developed. We'll provide details
in the future, but you might want to consider bringing examples of your
in-class activities (e.g. problem sets, labs, etc) to the workshop so
that we can help you prepare these for dissemination through the
webpage.
These are really great collections of resources. Thanks to Jen for her
efforts to make these "live" before the workshop. Check these sites out
and let us know what you think.
Best to all,
Dave Mogk
