From mogk at montana.edu Wed Oct 5 10:54:45 2005 From: mogk at montana.edu (Mogk, David) Date: Wed, 5 Oct 2005 11:54:45 -0600 Subject: [Healthwksp] New Environmental Health Risk Assessment Module now on-line! Message-ID: <55E2BF00E82C6F40B29C7ED824F52331FD3062@GEMSTONES.msu.montana.edu> Dear Health Workshoppers, I'm very pleased to inform you that we have a new teaching module on Environmental Health Risk Assessment that is now available on-line at: http://serc.carleton.edu/research_education/healthrisk/index.html This exercise is authored by my former student, Laurie Cantwell. Please visit the site and take it out for a spin. This module provides access to a number of on-line data sources such as the Toxic Release Inventory, CDC databases, etc. that will allow users to determine what environmental or health risks are present in their own neighborhoods. The net results will be a series of localized maps that pinpoint hazards that in aggregate will give you an indication of the health of your environment. Take this out for a spin, and let us know what you think. I'm sure Laurie would love to get some feedback (lbcantwell at hotmail.com). And it would be great if you or your students would go through the suggested activity so that we can see what the results look like from different parts of the country. Let us know if you get interesting results so that we can post a few more examples. I'll hope to see many of you at the GSA meeting next week. Please keep us all informed about what you're doing in the Health arena via this listserv, and as always, please remember to contribute resources and activities when you have the chance through the Health website: http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/health/index.html Good health to all, Dave Mogk -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
