I know that some of you will get this email multiple times. Mia culpa.
But, I am sending it to a number of different lists!

*Please consider submitting an abstract:

Announcing a Topical Session at GSA (Houston 2008):

175. What Should Students be Learning in Our Geology Classrooms?
Organized by Dexter Perkins and Karl Wirth

Sponsored by GSA-GeoSciEd and NAGT

Our idea is to start a discussion about the balance between
content-goals and larger overarching skills. Should we focus our
classes and curricula on essential/threshold concepts or on developing
thinking, metacognition, and other skills for lifelong learning? Given
overcrowded curricula and professional demands, what approach should we
use to achieve the right balance? We invite papers that deal with
individual classes or curricula, as well as larger institutional and
educational perspectives.

The call for papers and link to abstract submission forms, etc., can be
found at http://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2008AM/index.epl

Abstract submission deadline is 11:59 PM, eastern time, June 3, 2008.
